Szare - Dust on Mindset Records at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Szare - Dust on Mindset Records at www.catapult.co.uk here - Opener Dust is a forward leaning movement, with ominous background disturbances given ample breathing room in the mix to wax and wane prior to the deployment of a deadly bassline, lent pace by rolling hats and an immutable drum pattern. The irreverently titled Leaning Towers of Concrete opens with a poignancy Szare devotees will be unfamiliar with, before monolithic bass stabs and half heard field recordings hail the onset of a menacing and suitably grimy return to active dissonance. Raw tribal percussion drives B2 Voce Ai, with an off kilter rhythm working in tandem with a mutated garage beat to create serious late night basement vibes.

Von D - Maximum Boost (Niveau Zero Remix) on Boka Records at www.catapult.co.uk

Wilkinson - Automatic - Hands Up on Ram Records at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Wilkinson - Automatic - Hands Up on Ram Records at www.catapult.co.uk here - ‘Automatic’ leads the way, packed with Wilkinson’s signature style and a deluge of fresh ideas. Infused with familiar vocal snippets and an almost Prodigy-esque sheen, this track switches from warehouse rave prominence to rolling, grinding drum & bass basslines in the blink of an eye. Skipping beats are underpinned with a trademark Wilkinson bass and enough chops and changes to make any crowd panic. This one looks set for anthem status, a sure-fire global dance floor killer!

Spy - Future Tense feat. Jo-s - Roll The Dice on Hospital Records at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Spy - Future Tense feat. Jo-s - Roll The Dice on Hospital Records at www.catapult.co.uk here - Lead track ”Future Tense” is a six-minute journey into the deeper side of S.P.Y’s production. Sweeping synths, blissed out atmospherics and west-coast male vocals courtesy of US soulster Jo-s dominate for the most part with a growing sense of anticipation. Rolling breaks drive things along with warm instruments and gently echoing repeated “future tense” vocal. Imagine SEAL and Trevor Horn re-born and re-imagined in a post-millennial jungle style and you’re half way there. Expect to hear this one at Sun & Bass this summer for sure.

Lenkemz - Poirier - Walter Ego - Synesthesia 3 on Senseless Records at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Lenkemz - Poirier - Walter Ego - Synesthesia 3 on Senseless Records at www.catapult.co.uk here - Hot on the heels of Synesthesia 2 Senseless Records come with another technicolour selection of bass music from around the world, just in time for the summer. Vocals feature heavily on this release with Senseless resident MC Dialect showcasing his tough northern grime flex over an eski-juke anthem from Lenkemz (instro included) who has been getting support from Diplo, Toddla and Basement Jaxx recently. Then comes three killer tracks from one of the labels’ favourite artists, Poirier. First he teams up with long-time collaborator Face T for the bass heavy ‘What’, let’s just say sleng teng in a 2K12 style. On ‘Festival’ he channels African influences into a summer carnival workout and then flips it for the slower reggaeton-inspired ‘Ladrillo Por Ladrillo’ featuring Boogat on vocals. Finally there’s a monstrous contribution from Walter Ego, a burning hot newcomer from the furnaces of the Steel City (Sheffield, UK).

Alfie - Uncomfortably Numb - About Midday on Blah Blah Blah Records at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Alfie - Uncomfortably Numb - About Midday on Blah Blah Blah Records at www.catapult.co.uk  here - Born in the village of Oxted, home to a number of electronic dignitaries, Alfie has been raised on a balanced diet of Garage, Dubstep, Jungle, DNB, and Hip Hop which he has further infused with his personal love for old school Ska and Jazz. Taking key elements from each of these styles Alfies music is deftly relevant in your ear and on the floor. Lead track Uncomfortably Numb is a high energy throbbing slice of techno laced deep house, with a reverberating bassline driving an almost industrial main hook, whilst layers of clinical percussion and pads snap and swirl throughout the mix. About Midday punches through the enveloping gloom with an inescapable rave inspired main hook which intensifies the tracks pulsating wall of manufactured sounds. Having already played at Fabric aged 16 and with a number of shows pencilled for 2012, including his Glade debut and Eastern Electrics festival, this double a-side is set to eclipse the work of a number of his more senior peers.

Soap Dodgers - Unleashed EP on Wheel 7 Deal Records at www.catapult.co.uk

Diamond Supply Co summer Tees at www.catapult.co.uk

For their next summer 12 drop Diamond Supply Co have gone overboard with some nautical themed nicety. Youd have to sail the seven seas to find a more summery feeling Tee than the Yacht girl tee (available in both black and white). And just to prove that the spirit of the Riviera is running through them they’ve gone and produced a logo with a flash yacht sailing through there signature scrawl. Also remember Catapult is very competitive on its shipping.

Chroma - Ricochet on Commercial Suicide at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Chroma - Ricochet on Commercial Suicide at www.catapult.co.uk here

DJG - Rivet - Melon on Get Darker Recordings at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order DJG - Rivet - Melon on Get Darker Recordings at www.catapult.co.uk here - Resonating with vibes that can be recognised from Croydon to Cali, each of these three tracks reverberate with stunning stoic depths. Evocative, pensive and shaded with just the right amount of drama; this release was hot property amongst key influential imprints before the EP was finally won by GetDarker. Lock in and find out why they fought so hard to score it. Rivet sets the scene, icy pads lead to lush warm synths before a mournful lead line gives hint at what’s to follow. Militant kicks follow the incessant hook as G slowly adds more melodic and percussive elements. Isolating and cold yet swung on such a slow, spacey groove there’s heaps of warmth to be found amongst the darkness. Melon creeps up behind you. Equally as emotional and poignant as its A-side counterpart, the cascading twinkles and soft pattering of bass tones create a subtle sense of sadness as a distinctive triplet-style beat stumbles woozily in the groove.

Jack Sparrow - Afraid Of Me on Deep Medi Musik at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Jack Sparrow - Afraid Of Me on Deep Medi Musik  at www.catapult.co.uk here - Afraid Of Me’ intros with a heavy kick and twisted techno influences which drops straight into the pulsating sub bass which is tenacious throughout, only pausing for the beautifully dark breakdown where the track opens up and threatens to roll into a film score evocative of the ‘Watchmen’ from where the sinister vocal sample is taken. ‘This city’s free of me, I’ve seen it’s true face”. The flip ‘Good Old Days’ is a far more laidback, meditative and blissful vibe, Moody old skool jazz running’s with tripped out blissful sax, one for the hot summer nights!

pre order Fields - Behind The Curtains - Elemental on Utopia Music at www.catapult.co.uk here - If there was ever a tune that was a genetic hybrid of Konflict and Dub Phizix, this is it. Bleeps, bass, and the delicious combination of woody yet weighty snares and tight percussion.

Scuba The Hope (Recondite Rmxs) on Hotflush at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Scuba The Hope (Recondite Rmxs) on Hotflush at www.catapult.co.uk here - Following the release of his highly acclaimed debut album, On Acid, earlier this year, Berlin artist, Recondite, steps in to provide two deep and dark remixes of Scuba’s ‘The Hope’ for the next Hotflush single. The label has long been championing Recondite’s work. The track ‘Backbone’ was a notable highlight of Scuba’s revered DJ Kicks mix before the latter applied his own hand on a full-throttle remix of ‘Jaded’, to close out On Acid. Here, Recondite defines both remixes in the form of two journeys taken at opposing times of the day, a late-night drive and an early-morning walk. In both, the energy and aggression of Scuba’s original is drawn increasingly into a more desolate landscape as glacial synth lines bleed over one another into depths lurking far below the planes of convention.

pre order DjRum  Watermark on 2nd Drop Records at www.catapult.co.uk here - Two tracks of epic proportions for the 2nd full release from DjRUM on 2nd Drop. Clocking in at an immense 18 mins, it should really be EP or mini album, yet these monster tracks are two glowing paragon’s of bass music.  The opening track from DjRUM’s outstanding mix for Mary Anne Hobbs back in early Sept 2011, Watermark begins with a wonderful flourish of harp arpeggios and obscure movie samples before dropping into a dubbed out techno pulse.

Utah Jazz vs Alex Reece Groove Therapy part 2 Vintage Recordings at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Utah Jazz vs Alex Reece Groove Therapy part 2 Vintage Recordings at www.catapult.co.uk here - Taken from the new long player ‘Utah Jazz Presents Groove Therapy’. One of the shining lights of the noughties’ liquid-funk boom, Luke Wilson’s much-envied library of rare soul samples continues to earn him legions of international fans and a unique perch in the d’n'b galaxy. True to his defiantly old-skool production ethic, album number three is awash with the dusky sax trills, lilting piano rolls and shuffling breaks that have become his smile-inducing signature – a trove of unvarnished rollers entirely devoid of mechanoid modern gloss or studio gimmicks.

Bambounou Night - Brawl on ClekClekBoom Recordings at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Bambounou Night - Brawl on ClekClekBoom Recordings at www.catapult.co.uk here - “Night” is a Garage flavored bass monster tune with hypnotic rave strings reaching out to your nervous system to push you deep into that one-of-a-kind sharpen beat… while “Brawl” drops a Grime/House percussive rhythm mayhem on our head, carried away by what they call a sub-bass, sub indeed, not for the laptop heads.

Mortem - M-Zine Revolta - Endings on Demand Records at www.catapult.co.uk

pre order Mortem - M-Zine Revolta - Endings on Demand Records at www.catapult.co.uk here - Revolta is a mercenary tune, rolling out smooth over scattered breaks, lashing out then reigning back, never letting its guard down. Backing it up is Belgium-born M-Zine with his first ever vinyl release “Endings”. Stripped back to its core values of industrial, 1984-era Perez percussion, “Endings” provides the grit on this release, being not so much a stepper but a full on wall-shaker. Dark and gripping, it’s a set builder with that edge to get you going.
