Catapult Cardiff Celebrate Record Store Day 2012

And in the blink of an eye its Record Store Day again, a lot has happened at Catapult over the year, giving us lots to celebrate. It was last year that wed decided to start our own record label with a double sided release from The Darkhouse Family and CRST a year on and we have four releases on the label that have been received exceptionally well. We have both outfits playing in-store tomorrow and as if to mark the occasion CRST have a release on the legendary drum and bass label Valve, it will be the labels first bass music release., while not a record store day exclusive it’s a release worthy of special mention a lovely track called Pressure. We also have an in-store set from our very own Organ Grinder, again we need to mention his latest release on our own label I don’t love you(featuring Jessy Allen – who also appears on the CRST release – this is getting to read like an episode of lost!)  We couldn’t be prouder of this exceptional talent and look forward to seeing where he is with his carear during record store day 2013 – with only two solo release 9both on our own record label) to his name he has already got a booking for Berlins legendary Panorama Bar on the 19th of May. Which brings us to headline Dj for Record store day another fine talent born and bred in Cardiff, Lung. Lung has already featured on This years high anticipated The Agony and The Ecstasy by High Contrast and now we celebrate his first solo release on Med School Why Does Anyone Ever Do Anything. This is a very special in-store for us, from one of Cardiffs nicest and most talent producers. We will also broadcast this set on our U steam Channel so if you cant make it down you can enjoy the set from the comfort of your own home http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bassment-session1 - log on between 5 and 6.

Its only now Im getting round to mention a few of the actual exclusive releases this year – a few getting us very excited. Theres a white vinyl from Hospital Records with high Contrast and Logistics, a lurid green repress of Ed Rush and Optical Sicknote and a SPY remix of Chase and Status Flashing lights. Also worthy of a mention is the Maya Jane Coles Picture Disc the Daphni Remixes of Hot Chip Night and Day, The vinyl version of Zombys Where we you in 92 and the Gerry Read on 4th Wave… the list goes on and on. Safe to say itll be worth getting up early tomorrow morning and popping along for some real vinyl treats. We open at 9 and as usual will be well stocked on green stubby BBQ beers and haribo, a fine combination for breakfast.
