Novation MiniNova is a powerful
key synth with an amazing hand on performance controls, vocal tune and vocoder
effects. This synth is the compact edition to its big brother, the Novation’sUltraNova. With this compact synthesizer you can quickly find your sound, alter
and adapt the sound with what ever it is that you’re working on. This compact
synth has an amazing hand on performance control easy to use with high quality
performance weather you are recording or play out live.
There are 256 patches and sounds built within MiniNova,
and space for 128 of your own sounds to be stored within the synth. There is a handy
data knob that can be used to brows through all the data patches and sounds.
The user can use patched from specific genres or from specific types of sounds
using the big select edit knob. The users can also brows through the sound with
the patch buttons. While performing, the user can instantly access 8 of the favorite patches. Every patch or sound can be programmed and saved on any of
the 8 back lit buttons. The patch will assign to the relevant patches. When the
patches are saved the button would be lit. The user can change the sound that
they are playing live by pressing the lit up buttons. The user can also edit
and create their own individual animations and stored them on the 8 buttons.
The 8 buttons can also be used to arpeggio and sequence each one of the sounds,
also allowing the user to alter and edit the tempo and also giving the option
of sustaining the sequence while it’s in live mode. To filter the sound quickly
and easily the user can take advantage of easy access filter knob. In the
perform section the right hand switch accesses banks of envelopes, filters,
tweaks and isolators. While selected, as indicated by the LED, the user can move
the bellow knobs to make changes and simply save it with the save button.
MiniNova is a powerful mini key

access MiniNova’s vocal effects sounds the user can simply switch the patch
select knob to Vocoder/ VocalTune and then scroll through the available patches
by using the data wheel. Now the user can simply play the keys and speak into
the built in microphone. The MiniNova has a special feature that isn’t normally
found on regular synthesizers. It’s called VocalTune and it allows the user to
pitch the voice up and down by playing the keys on the keyboard. There are also
some patches that allow the user to change the voice distinctive ways using
MiniNova’s effect engine.
There are 14 waveforms to choose
from (square, sine, sawtooth, pulse, triangle and combinations), 36 wave tables
and 20 digital waveforms. Each of the 3 oscillators (per voice) have
density/ De-tune for fattening up sounds, virtual sync and 'hardness' - which acts
as an additional low pass filter. There are 14 filter types (and you can run 2
simultaneously), 6 envelope generators, 3 LFOs and 20 modulation slots where
the user can link modules of the synth engine together to shape sound. MiniNova
can add up to 5 effects to each voice including distortion, re verb,
chorus/phase, delay, compressor, EQ and Novation's unique gator effect.
Novation has created a software
application which gives the user the visual access to this compact synth. The
MiniNova Editor works as a plug-in with in the DAW or music software. The
sounds could be easily edited by using the hardware but the plug-in software is
there to help users with the final and more detailed tweaking of the sound.
Novation Mini-Nova is a small and
simplified synth that allows the user to get as complicated as they want with
