Recalling some of the moodiest moments from ‘On Acid’, his recent LP devoted to the sounds of the 303, this debut shows Recondite stay true to his sombre and tension-inducing roots. ‘DRGN’, the sonic equivalent to traversing a bleak end-of-times landscape, is a journey replete with a relentless, melodic sib-bass and vibrating synth; on the flip Recondite gives the 9-minute long ‘Wist 365’ a drum workout, resulting in a progressive, menacing groove, awash with wind chimes and 808 claps.
